Brown Thomas Arnotts Afforestation Initiative

Afforestation Initiative

Crann has partnered with Brown Thomas Arnotts for their Afforestation Initiative to plant 100,000 trees in 10 years and introducing a charge for paper carrier bags to reduce paper usage. This initiative reinforces the retailer’s commitment to environmental sustainability and the importance of afforestation in Ireland.

Recognising the vital role trees play in achieving a net-zero future, Brown Thomas Arnotts have been inspired by customer and team feedback to support Crann’s essential work in conservation, education, and tree planting across Ireland.

As part of this afforestation initiative, Brown Thomas and Arnotts will introduce a nominal charge of €0.60 for their branded paper carrier bags. These beloved and iconic bags can be reused, and customers are encouraged to do so. Additionally, customers will have the option to choose the beautifully designed “Bag for Life,” available in three sizes. This durable and versatile bag has become a statement piece, encouraging customers to reuse it for multiple shopping trips and thereby reduce paper usage. Customers are also welcome to bring their own bags.

All profits from this initiative will be invested in planting trees in Ireland. Brown Thomas Arnotts aims to reduce paper usage in their branded packaging by over 50%, ensuring that customers can continue to enjoy the experience of their branded bags while supporting a sustainable future.
